Bridging the Gap: Why Industry Liaison is Vital for Next-Generation Actors

Bridging the Gap: Why Industry Liaison is Vital for Next-Generation Actors

There is a massive difference between being a brilliant actor in a rehearsal room and navigating the commercial realities of the entertainment industry. For post-graduate students, that transition happens fast. They dive into an intensive, year-long master’s program, and before they know it, they are stepping onto a West End stage like the Criterion Theatre to perform in front of the UK’s top agents and casting directors.

That is exactly why the role of the Industry Liaison exists, and why we are incredibly proud to announce that Kaye is returning to ArtsEd to guide the MA Acting cohort for the second consecutive year.

Following a brilliant first year working alongside the wonderful faculty and these exceptionally talented performers, Kaye’s return ensures continuity, deep industry insight, and a supportive, realistic sounding board for the graduating class as they prepare to launch their professional careers.

Mastering the ‘Professional Practice’ Module

An actor’s education shouldn’t end with movement, voice, and text analysis. To survive and thrive in the modern landscape, an artist must understand the business behind the art. Kaye’s work with the MA students integrates directly into their Professional Practice module—a crucial part of the curriculum designed to take the mystery out of the industry.

Throughout the year, Kaye works closely with the cohort to demystify the professional world, focusing on practical, actionable career skills:

  • The Agent-Actor Dynamic: Understanding what agents actually look for, how representation works as a collaborative partnership, and how to authentically approach agencies without fear.
  • The Art of Self-Marketing: Refining the tools of the trade—from headshots and Spotlight profiles to showreels and writing the perfect cover letter.
  • Casting Director Etiquette: How to navigate the room (and the self-tape), handle audition nerves, and pitch yourself accurately for the roles you are genuinely suited for.
  • Life Post-Graduation: Building the mental resilience and administrative routines required to sustain a freelance creative career in a highly competitive industry.

“It is an absolute joy to be back at ArtsEd for a second year,” says Kaye. “This cohort is exceptionally driven, open, and talented. My goal isn’t to change who they are as performers, but to give them the practical toolkit and commercial confidence they need to step out of drama school and straight into professional rooms.”

Celebrating the 2026 Showcase

The culmination of this intense preparation was fully realised at the MA Acting Showcase at London’s Criterion Theatre. Watching the students take to such an iconic stage in front of a packed room of industry professionals is the ultimate reward for months of hard work.

The showcase marks both an ending and a beginning. Thanks to the rigorous training provided by ArtsEd and the tailored professional guidance from Kaye, these graduates aren’t just stepping into the industry hoping for the best—they are entering the professional arena fully prepared, highly autonomous, and ready to work.

We want to say a massive congratulations to the entire MA Acting class of 2026. We cannot wait to see where your talents take you next!
